Tips for effective communication with scientific posters
- Please note that you are not writing an article.
- Look for simplicity; Minimize text and avoid overwriting.
- Make sure that your poster attracts attention, emphasizes important points, is easy to read and arouses the interest of the audience.
- Use bold fonts and colors, but do not use too much.
- Facts should be printed in single phrases or words.
Define unfamiliar or complex terms as simply as possible.
- Use visual or graphic elements to clarify and enhance the message. Figures and tables should cover approximately 50% of the poster surface.
- Use letters that are legible from a distance of six feet.
- Use a fixed font throughout.
- Use minimal punctuation. If possible, avoid abbreviations and acronyms, especially in conclusions.
- The viewer must be able to understand the whole message in five minutes.
- Provide one or more key references safely.
